From Your Daughter, It has been a lifelong struggle for me to process your abuse. To excuse and explain away your behavior, “she’s my mother so she must be right…it’s the way her generation was raised…she has a mental illness.“ Now you’re approaching your senior years and I am supposed to be gentle with you and care for you in your old age but I must tell you this. You hurt me in my younger years. Because of your abuse which was emotional, mental, and physical abuse I became withdrawn and depressed. The person who should have protected me failed miserably. You called me fat and ugly so many times I believed it and I still do you, so now my eating disorder has been thriving for 18 years. Your abandonment and neglect cause me to be sexually abused when I was nine years old. You should’ve been there. But I must keep all these things and so many more inside because I don’t want to “upset” you know. So please know my heart aches and it is unfair for me to keep these things inside, they overwhelm my soul. I hope one day I have peace. -Me.
